Dr. J S N Murthy is a Senior Cardiologist based in Chennai, with 30 years' total experience in the field of Cardiology. He has independently performed over 25,000 cardiac catheterisation and interventional procedures throughout the span of his career.
Dr. Murthy has vast teaching experience and since 1994 has been teaching the DM (Cardiology) course at Sri Ramachandra Medical College & Research Institute (deemed University). He serves here as Vice-Chancellor and Professor of Cardiology. He has also taught DNB (Medicine) students between 1981 and 1987, and DNB (Cardiology) students at the Railway Hospital, Perambut, from 1987 to 1994.
Since Sri Ramachandra Medical College & Research Institute is one of the leading paediatric cardiac surgical centres in India, Dr. Murthy has extensive experience in catheterising all varieties of complex congenital heart disease. He also has extensive experience in cardiac catheterisation for rheumatic heart disease of all age groups and has been associated in performing more than 1,250 percutaneous balloon dilatation for mitral, aortic and tricuspid valve stenosis. He has also been associated in performing more than 1,000 percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasties (PTCA), including PTCA in evolving acute myocardial infarction and PTCA with percutaneous cardiopulmonary support.
Dr. Murthy has been published extensively with over 100 of his papers and abstracts appearing in peer-reviewed journals. He has received a number of awards and other recognitions from the medical fraternity and from society, and has several prestigious fellowships to his name.
